E-Books and Me

I have been working hard lately on putting together the outline for "The Malakai Chronicles" series. In addition, I have been reading a lot about e-book publishing, the rage of the future. At first, I was a little skeptical about the whole thing. But, progress is an ever forward moving machine and to be on board with progress is to achieve dreams.

My thoughts about e-book publishing started last summer during a conversation with my uncle. My uncle has seen a lot of progress in his, well, we'll call them advanced years. Uncle, like his brothers and sisters, is an avid reader. I'm guessing not in the genre which I choose to create, but an avid reader none-the-less. He told me how much he enjoys his Kindle and how he's considered purchasing a Nook as well. He also told me that he regularly surfs author sites for new books he finds interesting. He took great delight in telling me about one author that sells his books right from his own website.

I didn't say much during our conversation because at that time I was being duped by a worthless agent. Don't get me wrong, there are many agents out there who are legitimate honest working people. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. Now that I am my own boss again, I started to seriously consider my uncle's words of wisdom. Sometimes you have to let go of tradition and dive into new ways of doing things head first with no life jacket.

The world of publishing is in a period of evolution. Authors are taking matters into their own hands without regard to the publisher's world of tradition. The publishers seem to be backed into a corner where their only option for guaranteed sales are known authors and celebrities. That's the buzz on the internet anyway.

For me, I'm not really in it for the money. I'm in it for the joy of writing. I may not be the next J. K. Rowling or James Patterson, but I still have the joy and passion in my heart for creating stories for the enjoyment of others.

With that said, I will be working on creating e-books and most likely it will be Amazon.com where you will find "Sticks and Bones" and "The Malakai Chronicles".

I will keep everybody posted when the books are available. I need to make a few changes to "Sticks and Bones" which will be the first offering to the world and then book one in a four book series "The Malakai Chronicles".

Until next time, keep reading and keep writing. The world always needs stories!
