“Make every thought, every fact, that comes into your mind pay you a profit. Make it work and produce for you. Think of things not as they are but as they might be. Don't merely dream - but create!” ~ Robert Collier
The drive south on Interstate 29, from Fargo to Wahpeton, is one of the most glorious moments of the morning. As I look over the fields of corn, soybeans, sunflowers, and other commodities, I am treated to the dawning of a new day. The sun's rays, as they begin to peak over the horizon, drench the fields in a soft glow of warmth and peace. The once engorged, overflowing, raging rivers and streams, now meander in silence through the countryside. A revine, carved centuries ago by the Wild Rice River, bends to the east where a country church steeple, struck by the amber rays of sunlight, rises from behind the lush green trees. Embarking on their morning hunt, the hawks and eagles are in flight high in the sky which is painted in the hues of purple, blue and orange. Owls, of every natural variety, seek the shelter of the large cottonwood, elm, and oaks that line the river banks where they will wait for the sun to set once again.
As we go through the mundane moments of our everyday lives, sometimes we forget that life is not dreamed about, but created. Dreams are only dreams unless we act upon them. Writing is my dream. It has been my dream since the time I could first read. For many years, the dream of being an author smoldered in the back of my mind, sparked ocassionally by the short story or poem that plead to be released.
Happy Saturday! Wear your joy!
